New User Information
Getting Started
If you are a new user you need to activate your account first before you can access any computers on the University network. To activate your account, you first need to be enrolled in a course that is starting in the next 3 weeks (or has already started). Second, you need to have your Student ID Card. If your card has just been printed today, you should wait until the tomorrow before trying to activate your account.

ID card registration terminals
The preferred way of activating your account is to use one of the the terminals that are located here:
- In S Block during Enrolment in Person week
- The Library on Levels Two and Four
- The Student Information Centre downstairs in the Gateway (TSR2.01)
- Tauranga Campus reception
- Waikato Management School (MSB0, MS6)
- School of Education and Information Centre (LT2.27 hallway)
These will help you setup your computer account and register your ID card with the UniCash system so it can be used with the cash autoloaders, EFT-POS terminals and photocopiers.
Online account activation
If you want to just activate your account and setup other services later, you can use the:
You will still need information from your ID card to verify who you are. If you activate your account this way, you can register with UniCash later by selecting Existing Student at one of the ID card registration terminals.
Other new user services
New ID Cards: If you have a new Student ID Card to register, go to one of the ID card registration terminals.
WWW access: To enable or disable WWW access from the computer labs and the WWW banner filter, go to the services page.
